Joyful Noise

The Joyful Noise is the praise group and music ministry for Amissville UMC.

Our name came from Bible scripture. Psalm 98:4 of the King James Version (KJV) reads,” “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” Psalm 100 begins, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”

Music is mentioned in the first book of the Bible, Genesis, and in the last book, Revelation, and in over 1,000 verses in between. The words to the songs we sing during the service on Sunday are like mini-sermons reminding us of God’s love, grace and mercy. We play all types of Christian music including bluegrass, gospel, country, contemporary and traditional hymns. If you have a favorite, let us know and we’ll do our best to get it in the service for you.

Our leader, Bob, also plays with the bluegrass band Cobbler Mountain Grass. He and his wife, Rose, helped to establish the Joyful Noise at Amissville UMC over 10 years ago.  Other members include Lynda, Janet, Margaret, Rudy, Lois, Caroline and our pastor, Maxine Crenshaw

In addition to playing and leading the music for Sunday church services, the Joyful Noise also plays every month for the residents at the Villa at Suffield Meadows in Warrenton, VA.
